Things to do in Girona with your rental car

After picking up your rental car at our office in Girona, you can tour the Catalan province, undoubtedly the most beautiful of all. There is no better way to get to know it than with one of our rental cars.

Exploring the city of Girona is essential, so you can park your car right at the entrance, before crossing the Oñar river, and thus save paid parking.
If you don't want to walk so much, throughout the city you will find blue zone parking areas or if you prefer to leave the cache in a private parking lot, you will have no problem finding it right in the center of the city.

For your visit in Girona do not miss:

- Girona Cathedral: Symbol of the city, the Girona Cathedral is an imposing building, located at the highest point of the town and with a singular characteristic: its only nave is the second largest in the world (only surpassed by Saint Peter of the Vatican). But the temple hides many jewels beyond its dimensions. At the top of a spectacular staircase with 90 steps there is a compendium of 5 centuries of history. If you've seen Game of Thrones, you might recognize the stairs.

- El call, or Jewish quarter El Call (the Jewish quarter) is one of the most emblematic and interesting areas of the city of Girona, both architecturally and historically. It is part of the old quarter of the city, next to the banks of the Onyar river. Its origin dates back to the 12th century and it is one of the best preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. It was inhabited by the Jewish community of the city until 1492, the year in which the Jews were expelled from the country.

- The houses of the Oñar river: The Onyar houses, also called river houses or hanging houses, are those whose façades overlook the Onyar river in the section of La Rambla and Calle Platería in the old part of the city. Almost all of these buildings have been built during the 20th century. This set presents a great variety of volumes, basically made of wood and glass carpentry with roller blinds.

Originally they were located on the medieval wall and they grew in height and incorporated projections, especially from the 19th century, which resulted in a diverse complex. Later they were degraded.

- Beyond Girona: In the province of Girona you will find the most beautiful natural landscapes in Catalonia. On the one hand we have the Pyrenees, where you can enjoy the quiet valleys of La Cerdanya and the charming villages of La Garrtoxa. On the other hand, you will find the Mediterranean paradise the Costa Brava.
